From A to Z

This was back in June in my inspiration and designing phase for the new pieces of Circe! lucky me got to sit on our roof deck in zurich and try to get a sliver of a tan while drawing and looking at my inspiration book.
I need to have a certain frame of mind and heart to draw what has been flying around as inspiration and ideas for a while. it's like I have to catch them flying and put them on paper. sometimes it is amazing and sometimes just exhausting and nerve wrecking.. but most of the time I love it!




I am already in the process of getting new samples for spring 09 Circe and it has not even launched yet. I can't wait to launch it and hear what you have to say about it!
In the pic I am wearing my favorite ring from Circe, it's called "Your's Truly" the little stones are sapphires and it goes with everything!

Jaipur "Brunch"

I met up with my Jaipur friend Waris who designs the best jewlery http://www.houseofwaris.com/ (next to Toujours Toi ;) at Anokhi. he knew almost everyone that entered the store and we ended up having a fun table at the Anokhi cafe which is the only place where I can get a real coffee fix here. Anokhi sells beautiful wood cut printed textiles and clothing..

The theme of our photoshoot was "thumbs up" which is a really Indian thing and there is rarely a commercial on tv where there are no "Thumbs up"

Oh tomorrow morning we are off to India. my brave mum kaya and me are off to produce the spring 09 collection of Family Affairs and I will also try to get some new pieces done for my fine jewlery label Circe both of which we are launching this fall (it's sooo soon!!)
I thought we were leaving today and still I am not ready at all.
I am writing things, printing things, remembering things, packing things, adding things up. I doubt I will sleep much tonight out of worries and anticipation.

Sometimes (or right now:constantly) I ask myself WHY am i putting myself through this? The constant packing, the unknown, the scary, the adventures. right now I just wish I could stay home and sleep or go to Italy and eat and did not have to dive into such uncertain working conditions over there in India but all I can do is trust and jump and India has a strange way of surprising us from all directions at all times. I hope it will be more good than bad.

It's monsoon there. I have no idea what that means exactly. we are flying through Moscow and land in Delhi at 3am.

This is what we are doing tonight: packing our bags and hope for the best. whoever feels like crossing their fingers for us-please do!
and all I know is that all the amazing people around me actually really carry me through and I know that I could never do any of this stuff without their love and support (ever!) and in the end that is what the spirit of Family Affairs is about. to acknowledge all the talent, the love and beauty of the family of friends and relatives that is around us. wow i am just going on and on, I guess I don't want to pack. xxxx nina

yesterday was the studio sale of my roomate and dear friend nadja! so while i was holed up in my room trying to work i kept on having delightful, distracting visits from little friends. Aylinn loved the "photobooth" function on my computer. at some point 5 kids stormed in my room and then just stood there kind of frozen but really cute.

you might wonder what the French Playboy is doing on my night tabel- it has lot's of Toujours Toi in it this month plus it has become a super hip mag in the past half a year.
